Meet Francis “Alvin” Pearman

Professor Pearman’s research focuses on how poverty and inequality shape the life chances of children, especially in rapidly changing cities. Pearman combines rigorous quantitative methods with careful attention to how “big data” science might open new sites of inquiry in the field of education. Professor Pearman had published widely in leading journals while working in collaboration with schools and districts to solve pressing problems facing urban areas today, including those related to gentrification, homelessness, immigration, and crime and violence.
